SWEENEY TODD ADDS PERFORMANCE!

Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, which opened last weekend at The Bon Ton Room in All Play and No Work at 3017 Wildwood Avenue in Jackson, has added a performance on Friday, October 31st due to overwhelming demand for reservations. Sondheim's 1970s musical gets a new look on the small cabaret stage with just twelve performers who sing, act and play instruments including the clarinet, flute, accordion, keyboards and percussion to accentuate this 'marvelously murderous musical' by Stephen Sondheim.

Performance dates are October 17-18 and 24-25 and 31 at 8:00 pm. There are a very few seats still available for this event unlike anything Jackson has seen. Tickets for the show are $20.

Or consider coming earlier and having dinner and drinks too. Doors open at 6:00 pm and you can order from the new tappas menu created by owner Matt Davis and his family. (For the Halloween performance only dessert and coffee will be served.)

For reservations or information call 517-787-6733.

In this wise-cracking comedy-horror, Baron Victor Von Frankenstein,
his long-suffering wife Elisabeth, the hunchback Ygor, Valkyrian housekeeper Frau Lurker and the Monster
play host to various menacing creatures of the night (invited or otherwise) who beg the Baron to rid
them of their vices. This challenge, although a welcome diversion for the headstrong scientist, proves to be no picnic ... more of a living nightmare!

An Invitation from Jackson Community College

Join us for Theatrical Workshop on Friday, October 17 at 12:30pm in the Potter Center’s Federer Rooms B & C (located on the first floor). This is a great opportunity for your students to learn about pursuing a career in theatre, film and television from cast members of the professional radio theatre company, LA Theatre Works.

This FREE workshop is an exciting event designed to share with actors, both student and professional, some of the techniques that are invaluable in pursuing these careers. The workshop will be taught by one or more members of the L.A. Theatre Works company - professionals with impressive resumes and plenty of audition war stories. They will cover topics such as getting rid of audition fears, selection of material, how to prepare for an audition with dress and manner, and the audition / callback process itself. There will be active demonstrations of ways to deal with audition anxieties, etiquette with casting directors and directors, and many other related topics.

That evening, join us again for a special back-to-back double bill of chills, thrills and great literature as LA Theatre Works presents two masterpieces of science fiction and adventure: War of the Worlds and The Lost World. This production is scheduled for 8:00pm in the Sheffer Music Hall. Attached are a synopsis of the show and a description of the company performing the show. Below is a list of the actors who will be performing the show:

Jerry Hardin (X-Files), a veteran of dozens of films and television programs and fine stage actor Kenneth Alan Williams will be joining television star Kyle Colerider-Krugh (ER, Third Rock From the Sun and Seinfeld) and Josh Clark (Heroes, Star Trek Voyager, E.R. and LA Law), previously announced. Rounding out the cast will be Jen Dede (E.R., Gilmore Girls) and Peter McDonald (Becker, Wings, E.R. as well as many starring roles on stage in Los Angeles).

Star Trek alum John de Lancie is directing this fine cast and is available for interviews along with the actors.

We are offering discounted tickets to students (50% of ticket price of $29, $26 or $22). For tickets to the evening's performance, please contact the Potter Center Ticket Office at 796-8600.

If you are interested in participating in the free workshop, please contact me by Wednesday, October 15, either by e-mail or phone at 796-8473.
