Citizen Patriot reporter Mary Barber dies

Mary Barber, 49, the Citizen Patriot reporter who has been writing about her surgery to have a tumor removed from near her brain, died Monday afternoon at University of Michigan Hospital.

She suffered three seizures, the last of which led to a heart attack, her doctor said."

"It's a terrible and freaky thing," University of Michigan ear surgeon Dr. H. Alexander Arts said late Monday evening."

Her surgery went really well and, in fact, she did exceptionally well. I was talking to her at lunch about going home (today). There was absolutely no indication this would happen," he said.
