MARY JANE CARR 1926 - 2007
Mary Jane Carr may not be a familiar name to current members of the theater community in Jackson, but she should be. She was a founding member of both the Clark Lake Players and the Jackson Civic Theater. A few years ago she contributed some of her photographs of past productions to the J-ACT (Jackson Area Community Theatre) project collecting materials from past theater groups to be archived at the Ella Sharp Museum.

I had the pleasure of knowing Mrs. Carr for a number of years. She tutored my three sons for the past fifteen years. Alex spent the most time with her and the past few years Alex in many he was her chauffeur. She was a woman with a great mind even after a stroke a few years ago. She kept the boys up on current affairs and what was on stage in New York. They had to know who won the Tonys. Her involement in theater was long before I became involved but she had a great saying. "You must be willing to play the lead or clean the toilets, it's all important" One thing to always to remember with Mrs. Carr, it's Maryjane. Last week at Foote Hospital a nurse called her Mary. She was quick to correct her "It's Maryjane, all one word" We'll miss her wit.
