Sauk Announces Auditions for TITANIC - THE MUSICAL

JONESVILLE - The Sauk, Hillsdale County’s community theatre, has announced audition dates for their upcoming production of “Titanic - The Musical.” Auditions will be held by appointment on March 27 and 28 at the Sauk Theatre, 240 E. Chicago in Jonesville.

The production is looking to cast between 50-60 people ages 8 and up. No experience is necessary. All roles require singing. 

Rehearsals will begin immediately with performances scheduled June 11-21. 

“Titanic - The Musical” paints an intimate picture of the real-life individuals who played an integral part in the fateful voyage - the officers, crew and passengers - from all classes. Whether they traveled first class, second class or steerage, all the Titanic’s passengers stepped on board the massive ship with the hope and desire to accomplish their life’s dreams. The musical won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 1997. The musical is not based on the 1997 film. “Titanic” is being brought to the Sauk stage by the team responsible for last summer’s blockbuster production of “Les Miserables.” Trinity Bird will direct with musical direction by Kristi Gautsche. Bird and Gautsche have collaborated on over 25 musicals at The Sauk including recent productions of “Shrek the Musical,” “The Drowsy Chaperone,” “Fiddler on the Roof,” “The King and I” and “Godspell.” Jan Mackie will produce. Announcing Auditions for Staged Reading: Law & Order: Nursery Rhyme Unit

 What's a staged reading?  A reading of the play with minimal blocking and only two rehearsals and a performance!  Perfect for those who would like to be on stage but can't invest the time required for a full production.

About the show:  Is there a bigger group of psychotics and sociopaths than nursery rhyme characters?  Read some nursery rhymes — you know it’s true!  That makes heinous crimes, such as the tragic case of Humpty Dumpty, quite difficult to solve.  Detective Green and the Punnish Sir (Yes, he’s always scrambling for egg puns!)  have been called in to investigate a crime scene where a Mister Humpty Dumpty has been found shattered and fowl play is suspected.  They have one hour to solve the crime — the same time frame as a typical Law and Order episode, minus commercials.  Can they do it?  The yolk’s on you if you think this hilarious tongue-in-cheek play is only for young children.  There are so many puns and plot twists in this comic romp, even the playwrights were surprised by the ending! 

 

Auditions:  Tuesday, April 14 from 7:00 until 9:00 at Jackson's First Presbyterian Church, 743 W Michigan Avenue, Jackson.  No preparation necessary.

The timeless “Wizard of Oz” tale has been adapted into a dazzling musical.  A cyclone carries Dorothy and Toto to the magical Land of Oz.  When Dorothy’s house squashes the Wicked Witch of the East, she is ecstatically thanked by the liberated Munchkins and given permission to wear the witch’s powerful silver slippers.  From there, Baum’s lovable characters, rubber-legged Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion and Tin Woodsman, join Dorothy on a journey to meet the great Oz.  While on their trek, they battle the Wicked Witch of the West, who is determined to get revenge for the death of her sister.

Perform with professional actors on stage at Performance Network! Professional theatre training for the aspiring student!

Each morning our camp students will have classes in core theatre arts curriculum including acting, movement, voice and scene study. Each afternoon campers rehearse alongside our faculty of professional actors under the direction of award-winning artists John Manfredi and Suzi Regan. Additional Master Classes will include Stage Combat, Vocal Music Performance and Scenic Design. Class size will be between 8-10 students with students receiving excellent individual attention from a faculty with over 100 years of professional experience.

• Early bird enrollment by April 1st for $100 off (call the box office)
• Reservations can be made for 20% down ($140)
• Scholarships available for students demonstrating financial need.
• 8-9am early arrival and 4-5pm late dismissal available for $10/day or $25/week per student

Center Stage Jackson, in partnership with Jackson Public Schools, is pleased to announce the second Youth Theater show of CSJ's fifteenth season with the musical "Oz!" based on the classic story by L. Frank Baum.  The show is written by Tim Kelly with music and lyrics by Bill Francour. Performances will be held on Friday, March 20 and Saturday March 21 at 7:00 pm and on Sunday, March 22 at 2:00 at the Middle School at Parkside Kiesel Auditorium, 2400 4th Street, Jackson.

The show is directed by Melissa McElhone with musical direction by Sarah Sanders and choreography by Robin Carson.

Auditions March 9, 10 for "A Festival of One-Acts" at Sauk Theatre

JONESVILLE — Audition dates have been set for "A Festival of One-Acts" at The Sauk, Hillsdale County’s Community Theatre.

Auditions will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, March 9 and Tuesday, March 10 at the Sauk Theatre, 240 E. Chicago St., Jonesville. Auditions are open to anyone age 8 and up. No experience is necessary. Auditions will consist of readings from the script. The production needs approximately 30 actors. Rehearsals will begin on March 16. Performances are April 30-May 3.

The production will include a variety of short plays including both comedy and drama. Among the selections are two short plays by longtime Sauk volunteer Bud Vear and a world premiere production written for the Sauk by G.M. (Bud) Thompson, who wrote last year's "Running Away."

The one-acts being produced are: - "Pity the Fool" by D.M. Larson, directed by Tyler Bennett and Ryan Littley - "A Fish Tale" by J. GENERAL AUDITIONS SCHEDULED FOR PURPLE ROSE 2015 / 2016, 25th ANNIVERSARY SEASON!

CHELSEA, Mich. — The Purple Rose Theatre Company will hold general auditions for roles in their highly anticipated 2015 / 2016, 25^th Anniversary season on Monday, April 27 and Tuesday, April 28 from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm. Auditions will be held at The Purple Rose Theatre Company, 137 Park Street, Chelsea, Michigan 48118. Audition appointments are required and can be made beginning Monday, March 16 by calling the PRTC Administration Office at 734.433.7782; office hours are Mondays through Fridays from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm. Both Equity and non-Equity actors are encouraged to audition. 

Actors will be asked to perform a one-minute contemporary comedic monologue and should bring a current headshot and resume to the audition. The Purple Rose Theatre Company is seeking male and female actors ages 18 and older for roles in the upcoming season. Callbacks for specific roles in specific productions will be held at a later date. Actors will be notified by phone if they are being invited to callbacks, which are not currently scheduled.

The Purple Rose Theatre Company operates under an SPT Tier 8 contract with Actors’ Equity Association and employs both Equity and non-Equity actors. The current Equity salary is $489.00 per week.
